Dr. Robert Crichton exemplifies a rigid, dismissive, and outdated approach to patient care, and I cannot in good conscience recommend him to anyone seeking informed, evidence-based, or trauma-informed medical support. I saw him for help managing severe, long standing pain and inflammation from endometriosis and adenomyosis. Instead of care, I was met with discrimination, condescension, and misinformation. Dr. Crichton demonstrated a clear lack of understanding of both conditions, relied on outdated talking points, and showed no willingness to engage with current clinical knowledge. He refused to review the diagnostic imaging I brought with me, claiming he already had it, even though my scans were performed at a specialty clinic overseas. He repeatedly minimized my symptoms, dismissed the systemic inflammatory nature of endometriosis as “semantics,” and shut down any attempt at informed discussion. His knowledge on treatment began and ended with hormonal contraception, which I am already taking as part of my existing care. When I requested a referral to a pain clinic to explore legitimate long term options, he told me that endometriosis and adenomyosis were not appropriate for pain management and doubted a referral would even be accepted. This directly contradicts Island Health’s own guidelines, which define chronic pain as pain lasting longer than three months. Like many women living with these conditions, I have endured debilitating pain for years, yet he refused to acknowledge the realities of my illness or his responsibility to provide adequate care. Ego has no place in medicine.. I left the appointment dismissed, stigmatized, and without any path forward. I’m sharing this not out of anger, but out of necessity. My experience with Dr. Crichton aligns with a well documented and troubling pattern of women with gynecological pain being dismissed, minimized, and denied appropriate care. Physicians who interact with patients this way prolong suffering and reinforce the very systemic barriers that already make accessing treatment so difficult. I’ll be pursuing a formal medical review to ensure this encounter is properly documented and to advocate for better, evidence based care for others moving forward.

Staff is amazing, right from intake, triage and then to the doctor. They made recommendations for after care, making it not just about the 10 minutes I was in their office. Would recommend highly.

Staff always smiling and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. They are amazing. The clinic is warm and welcoming throughout. A pleasant experience helps the hurt hurt less :-)

In my 61 years of experience working with many excellent doctors throughout Victoria — both for myself and while caring for aging family members — this clinic offered the most disappointing medical interaction I have encountered. The physician I saw spoke disrespectfully to both me and my retired doctor, dismissed a long-standing treatment plan without thoughtful consideration, and refused to refill a medication I have been prescribed for over 20 years. I understand the demands placed on healthcare professionals, but professionalism, compassion, and respect are foundational to good care. Unfortunately, none of these qualities were demonstrated during my visit. I hope, in time, this physician reflects on the responsibility carried by the profession — one grounded not just in knowledge, but in humanity.

Cut thumb requiring stitches. Phone call > drive to clinic > assessment > stitches > bandage was just under 90min. Very happy with service and wait times.
