South Calgary Medical Clinic

The clinic closes at 1:00 PM and we arrived at 12:15 PM with our 10-month-old baby who had been crying all night. As parents, when your baby cries in a way that feels like they’re hurting, you panic. You just want someone to check them and reassure you that everything is okay. When I first spoke to the nurse at the front, the receptionist wasn’t there. The nurse was very rude and immediately said the doctor was no longer accepting patients. I explained that my baby had been crying all night and that I was really worried. I practically begged her to please just ask the doctor. Instead of showing any empathy or understanding, she walked away. After that, the receptionist came out. She seemed much kinder and like she genuinely wanted to help. We asked her if she could please check with the doctor. She said okay, but came back just seconds later saying the doctor said no. It happened so quickly that it honestly felt like she never actually spoke to the doctor, but was simply told “no” by the nurse. There were only two patients sitting in the waiting area at the time. It is shocking and deeply upsetting that a 10-month-old baby who had been crying in pain all night could be turned away so easily, without compassion, without effort, and without even the reassurance that a doctor was properly asked. No parent should ever have to beg for basic care for their child.

My family doctor works in this practice. I’ve used this walk in clinic so many times over the years, for all sorts of things. The staff are personable, kind and very helpful. I really cannot say enough good things about this clinic and all the doctors, nurses, and support staff. Thank you Dr Penney for your tireless commitment to compassionate care.

I’ve been to this clinic a couple of times as a walk-in patient. Every staff member has been friendly and welcoming. The wait times have been reasonable. I would definitely recommend this clinic!

Horrible, trash and garbage. Walk-ins in this medical clinic are treated horrible. If you don’t know any of the doctors expect a 2 hour wait minimum before they page you in. Never coming here again, and I wouldn’t recommend this medical clinic to anyone. Staff are rude, and just don’t care for their patients. If you were sick waiting to go in you would die before getting any treatment from these people. Never again, and I recommended no one should ever go to this hell hole.

was a walk-in patient. Dr Wong's treatment for my ear infection was right to the point. I was recovered in 2 weeks. The 2nd time, I had stomach ache. She diagnosed me as bile reflux after gallbladder removal surgery. She got the right medicine for me. I would say that Dr. Wong is a knowledgeable and considerate doctor. However, I found that doctors in this walk-in clinic in Sunpark Plaza are always in a hurry !! Why? Too rushed would make mistakes easily. Isn't it?
